Chemical Usage Spread | Isthmus Nekoi

This spread has been very slightly modified from a relationship spread written by Aeclectic Tarot member Rhiannon. Please note, I'm using the term "drug" in the broadest sense from coffee to crack. Please be sensible about what you stick in your body and use this spread responsibly!

Position Meanings

1) Chemical - querent relationship
This card is key. This card is going to illustrate how the drug will interact w/your system.

2) Chemical's presence
All drugs are unique with their own distinct presence. Drugs will in fact, display a certain personality towards someone (use me!! use me now!!) that can be quite different for another user. If you are going the psychedelic plant route, then you better pay close attention to this one.

3) Querent's attitude/approach to the chemical
Take note if any emotional immaturity, addictive traits etc are indicated by this card.

4) Potential problems or side effects
Obviously, any drug - even if it's legal or a pharmeceutical - has a risk involved. Take note of the card's suit if it is a minor card; pentacles/cups will denote a more physical effect, whereas wands/swords are more mental although I've seen nausea w/wands as well.

5) Outcome/Advice
This card is pretty self explanatory.

Example

Thoth is by far the expert deck when it comes to chemical matters and I always use it for this spread.

Chemical: Ginseng

1) 6 of Pentacles
2) Prince of Swords
3) The Moon
4) Temperance
5) 2 of Wands ®

My grandfather always keeps some very expensive red Korean ginseng around his place and I recently decided to make ginseng tea. While I didn't notice any effects from the tea, my boyfriend did. The throw in general is very positive. 6 of Pentacles and Temperance represents a stabilizing influence (rather than negative side effects; of which I did not experience any). Ginseng also appears to have a very energizing presence mentally as well, as indicated by the Prince of Swords. The effects are subtle, but very deep. The reversal and the Moon suggest a hesitation in a dedicated consumption of ginseng (it doesn't taste very pleasant) and that my conception of ginseng is rather unrealistic.
