new moon in Taurus ~ May 5, 08:18 EDT

We have a lovely new Taurus moon this month, with a concentration in earth and air, no fire. It’s time to cool off from the supercharged configurations of our last lunation and to create the space to enjoy Venusian pleasures.

First off, our sun-moon conjunction enjoys a wide trine from Jupiter and a loose, dreamy square from Neptune. This configuration encourages you to day dream, be generous. A grand trine in earth with Venus, Pluto and Saturn also deepens this theme. When Venus teams up with these two planetary heavyweights, there’s no space for fluff and sugar and certainly, with Saturn direct in Virgo, this is not about gluttony. Approach the Venusian realm with respect, care and even discipline to be patient, giving, truly sensual.

Mercury has entered its own sign and is the depositor to Saturn, whom it squares. This gives the mind structure and a keen attention to details to really enjoy the good life.

Open up all your senses. Take it slow.

Venus-Mars-Jupiter T-square meets natal Pluto

Posted in Astrology at 4:57 pm by isthmus nekoi

I always feel like I’m going to jinx myself when I say this but Pluto in general tends to be really good to me. It forms what is considered a tense configuration, squaring my ASC and Mars. The week the Venus-Mars-Jupiter T-square formed a grand cross with my Pluto, the following happened:

- found out I won a major scholarship
- met the “impossible” fundraising goal for the project I’m working on (even I thought it would be impossible)
- pulled off a successful community event, planning a few more
- dreamt of god

It’s sort of scary - for so long, the volunteer projects I have been working on have been a constant “against all odds” kind of struggle and now things are starting to go right, unbelievably right that it’s actually a little disorienting. People always speak of denial in terms of coping with negative life events, but to be honest, so much good has arrived in such a short amount of time that I feel like I’m in a kind of denial state!

Scorpio full moon ~ April 20, 06:25 EDT

We have a very busy and happening lunation this month, with the full moon in the sign of intense Scorpio. Earth energy dominates, taking half the planets, grounding Scorpio’s emotional depths.

We have an excellent grand kite with sun and Mercury forming a grand earth trine with Pluto and Saturn. This configuration indicates the potential for great labour, both physical and labour. As the fixed signs are emphasized, sustained effort in particular is supported. As Mercury is aspected, this is a very good time to take stock of the hidden structures of any project. Firm up the layout of your thesis, review your project timeline, defrag your harddrive. You are being presented with a good time for solving problems, or working out something physical so don’t miss out.

Another major configuration this lunation is a T-square with Jupiter, Mars and Venus at the apex. Uranus trining Mars and sextiling Jupiter adds excitement. This is an expansive time for relationships, although each planet is in the sign of its detriment or fall which suggests that things might go overboard at times. There’s very little restraint when these planets get together. All and all, not bad for someone looking to reignite the spark or to inject something of the unexpected into their love life.

Don’t take this lunation sitting still. Be productive with it and have fun!

Aries new moon afterthoughts

Posted in OTO, Luminary Reports at 4:59 pm by isthmus nekoi

I’m late again, and I’m going to have to say that things may continue to be highly sporadic here until my contract ends in mid July. Internet access can sometimes be more trouble than it’s worth so I do spend less and less of my time online for personal use unless I hit a good streak with a speedy connection. I suppose I could start blogging from work where the connection is more reliable, but I honestly don’t have the time when in the “office.”

The Aries new moon was a very good one for self starting and initiating major projects. With the sun/moon at the apex of a T-square with Jupiter and Mars, this past lunation was chock full of energy and drive and you may have found yourself adding a few more irons to the fire.

On my end, I started a few new creative projects, learning traditional crafts and decorating my LBRP room. I made 4 collages of the elements/cardinal directions based on the OTO colour schemes and LBRP visualizations and I wish I had my digicam to show you the results. It’s a fun little project to make you think about the connections between the OTO’s symbolic associations.

Libra full moon ~ March 21, 14:40 EST

Apologies for the late lunation report! I didn’t forget about the full moon but unfortunately, work took precedence over blogging and I didn’t have any free time until today.

We had a very challenging full moon, and if you experienced any difficulties that day, or were feeling irritable, impatient or perhaps having frayed nerves, I wouldn’t be surprized. Our Libra lunation brought with it, a grand cross in the early cardinal signs with the sun-moon opposition and a tense Mars-Pluto opposition. These are not fun planets to align in such a hard configuration. The grand cross spells out power struggles and gridlock energy. For those with planets in the first decan of any cardinal sign, it might have been one of those days where everything you touch goes wrong. Not fun times and I apologize for not having posted a warning about this earlier.

Luckily, the moon has moved along and we are now only looking at a T-Cross which, while still challenging, isn’t nearly as painful. Ebertin has this to say about a Mars-Pluto with sun at midpoint: “A hardworking person, the ability to work till collapse or complete breakdown. Injury, accident, violent measures, an upset or shock caused through the intervention of Higher Power.” If you’re feeling high energy, that’s great but the message is clear: don’t push your luck.

Pisces new moon ~ March 7, 12:14 EST

This lunation in Pisces anticipates spring with some strong stelliums in Pisces and Aquarius, and no planets in fire, as if to make room for the heat of Aries.

With the sun moon pair also tightly conjunct Uranus and sextiling friendly Jupiter, there is a hopefulness to this lunation, and a strong desire to push boundaries and expand beyond them. Whatever has been holding you back can be released in a Piscean manner in exchange for new perspectives, new horizons. A Venus-Neptune-Mercury stellium heighten sensitivites to the arts. It’s not a bad time to send out love letters or to do something special to reignite the spark in a romantic relationship.

On my end, I had a roommate move out during the moon’s waxing phase, cleaned out every inch, let it air during the lunar balsamic phase and moved in today. What is to become of my old room? Why, I finally have an empty room for magickal practice and christened it today with my first LBRP in 2 bloody months. I must say, banishing is remarkably easy in a tiny, isolated community. There’s nothing to get in your way. The land and sky are vast and clear, the landscape completely dominating. Being totally grounded is always just a breath away.

tarot vs astrology?

Posted in Astrology, Tarot at 2:32 am by isthmus nekoi

Bad news: I can’t find my digicam, one of the few things that was helping to keep me sane in such an isolated environment. I did a reading to locate it using my tarot spread. Then it suddenly occured to me that I could make a little experiment out of this by doing a horary chart. In time, we will see which divinatory system worked better.

A) Lost Items Spread

1) North - 4 of Discs (r)
2) East - Ace of Wands (r)
3) South - 2 of Cups
4) West - The Hierophant (r)
5) Situation - 3 of Cups (r)
6) Advice - Ace of Discs
7) Outcome - Knight of Swords (r)

I think “situation” is clear. That the item was lost is somehow connected to dancing at the only bar this weekend. This is not good news as everyone I spoke to said if it went missing in the bar, it would have been stolen. There’s no other way I could have lost the item at the bar. This makes location sort of a moot point although south, we have the Lovers, and perhaps it was misplaced in their house. Ace of Discs I have taken however, as advice to get a new camera. Knight of Swords, I’m unsure of. Reversed seems to indicate to me a lack of justice.

B) The Horary

(oops, accidently deleted the image)

Well, the first thing I’ve noticed is that I (Venus) don’t make any contact with my possession (Mars, ruler of 2nd house). Moon, natural significator of lost items is about to enter Sag. Based on this alone, I don’t have a good feeling about the chart. There aren’t strong signs indicating recovery either. Moon is moving in to square Saturn. Traditional astrology indicates that this could signify a dishonest person.

Will update in awhile with a more definite outcome.

[update = camera still hasn’t been found. Safe to say it’s gone for good]

Virgo full moon ~ February 20, 22:30 EST

Today’s full moon has the added kick of being a total lunar eclipse, so for those of you who follow Saros cycles and the like, this lunation is particularly important. This lunation is also lacking in fire, so you might want to supplement the elemental lack by doing something creative to balance things out.

The strongest aspects made with this moon are a conjunction from Saturn and a tight trine from Pluto. Having the two planetary heavyweights leaning on our luminaries means that this lunation is going to adopt a very serious vibe. It’s time to get down to business. An out of sign sextile from Mars lends a little manpower to the mix.

On a side note, I saw the full moon walking to work today while the sun was just rising and it was simply breathtaking. Unfortunately, I’m not good enough with photography to have captured those colours, but the moon was very large, with a gentle glow and a cloudy golden aura, while the warming sky was tinged with subtle changes in hue and streaks of neon magenta.

new moon in Aquarius ~ February 6, 22:44 EST

The lunation is looking very clear and super charged this month falling on a solar eclipse. We’re looking at a very focused new moon with a stellium in Aquarius, every planet in air or earth except Uranus (water). The two elements make for an interesting combination: the light, abstract nature of air and the dense, pragmatic nature of earth.

Our sun-moon combo is conjunct nimble Mercury and dreamy Neptune, with a wide trine to Mars. These are great aspects for realizing goals, especially anything that supports Aquarian themes of humanitarianism, rationality, experimentation, and networking. With a Capricornian Venus and Jupiter conjunction taking orders from Saturn in Virgo, the sign of their detriment, it is not the time to be indulgeant and selfish. If you’re going to be extravagant, make gestures in a Virgonian/Aquarian vein and focus on serving others.

Conservatism and innovation balance each other out uneasily in this new Aquarian moon, but both trends point in the same direction of Aquarian values. Refresh, renew, reboot.
